3 1/2 months

What a great mothers day! We went to Camp Blue Haven to visit Jim's parents this past week and we had a great time. The weather was beautiful! Ella had a great time playing in the sand with her JU-JU and riding the mule with her dad and grandad.

Sadie has become quite the social bug this past week. She is smiling all the time and loves to talk up a storm. She has also discovered her hands and sucks on them profusely when trying to go to sleep. I am so proud of her she has slept in her own bed for the past 2 weeks and is sleeping 7 to 9 hours straight. We are having a great time with her and Ella is really starting to play with her a lot. Ella tries to teach Sadie everything. One of Ellas favorite things to do is to wave at Sadie, or Jo-Jo as Ella calls her, and then grab Sadie's hand and wave back at herself. She also talks to Sadie in a baby voice. Wonder where she learned that one.

Ella is so much fun and is talking so much. She repeats everthing you say and do. Today I was addressing birth announcements (I know they're about 2 months behind, but at least I did them.) Ella found a piece of paper and started licking it. I said "no Ella don't put that in your mouth." I thought to myself what is she doing? Then I realized she had seen me lick the envelopes and she was doing it too. One of her favorite things to do is to ride the lawnmower with her dad. Actually anthing dad is doing is great fun so she has to do it with him. Her favorite word these days is Ella or this week ME. If she wantes to go do something she says me, me, me and points to herself. She has also decided in the past few weeks that she no longer wants to go to Bible Class. Nothing happened she just wants to be with her daddy AT ALL TIMES!

Sadie & Ella

Ok Ok- I know it's been forever and since I'm getting so much harrassment for not updating in so long I decided that I better update.

It has been quite the whirlwind since Sadie has been here. She will be 3 months old a week from tomorrow and it has really gone pretty fast. When you're chasing around a 19 month old and tending to every little need of a newborn you're always doing one or the other throughout the whole day. I don't know if any of you saw Nadia Suleman "Octomom" on Oprah yesterday but it was a ZOO! I asked Ella as all of Nadia's 14 kids seemed to be crying all at once, I said that's a lot of kids huh Ella and she looked at me, grinned really big and said YEAH! It made me very thankful for my 2 girls that I was able to give them the attention they need even though some days it feels as though one or the other demands so much that the other is being neglected. I was also thankful for the sleep, althought not a lot right now, that I do get at night. I feel very blessed to be able to be Ella and Sadie's mother.

Sadie loves it when people talk to her. She gets a big grin on her face.

Ella is almost 20 months old and I can't believe it. She is talking so much and just really acts like a little girl. We have a lot of good laughs with Ella. She's quite the comedian. Here are some pictures we took when we went to my parents a couple weeks ago. We had to go searching for some bluebonnets and finally found a small patch on the side of the road.

Christmas and the home stretch

I didn't know Christmas could be so much fun again! We had a great time watching Ella's eyes light up with ALL of her presents. Her new sound when she sees something that she likes is a very hi pitched "AWWHHHHHHH." Needless to say there were plenty of those over the holidays.

Mom and dad came into town for Christmas day so we all got up to see that Santa had brought Ella a tricyle. She is quite fond of it even though she can't reach the petals yet. Her dad is a pro at pushing her around on it.

We then headed out for Lubbock to go see Jim's grandparents and ate a lot of food and had some great fellowship with the family.

Here's Ella in her Christmas outfit from Gran. Thanks Gran!!

On New Year's it was off to San Angelo to see Taylor and Audrey and do Christmas with them. It is always a lot of fun to get together with them. I felt so honored that they came all the way from London just to visit!! Then on Saturday after New Year's we traveled to Snyder to visit with my mom's family and then headed home.

We can't forget about the arrival of Miss Sadie. I went to the Dr. on Thurs. and we have planned the c-section for January 29th. Yes, that is 2 1/2 weeks away! Oh my! I can't believe I will be the mother of two girls. That's really scary. I'm 36weeks and feeling pretty good however, I am getting a bit uncomfortable. Please pray for a good delivery and fast recovery!

Cardiac Update

Yesterday Ella had her one year check up with her cardiologist, Dr. Peiris. They assumed when she was born that she had a VSD, or ventricular septal defect, a type of congenital heart defect in which there is an abnormal opening in the dividing wall between the main pumping chambers (or ventricles) of the heart. VSD's are the most common type of heart defect in newborns. However, since she was experiencing no symptoms and was growing fine Dr. Peiris said it will most likely close up by one year and he wanted to see her back then to check it and go from there.

We went in at 11:00 and he first performed an EKG. On the EKG he saw some slight discrepancies so he listened to her and didn't hear the murmur but wanted to see what was causing the blip on the EKG. So, he sent us over to the hospital to do an Echo cardiogram, basically a sonogram of the heart. No one had told us at this point that the Echo would take about 45-60 minutes. Yeah right- you get your 13 month old to lay still for that long. Did I mention she hadn't had anything to eat? Poor thing! Well, Ella did FANTASTIC! She layed there still the whole time and even fell asleep for a while.

So after that was over we talked with Dr. Peiris for a while and he noted that all of her valves had minor leaks including her Aorta (the main artery to the heart.) There was no sign of a VSD. So, although not great news, for now Ella is doing really well and he told us not to change anything about her lifestyle for the time being. This is something that can get better with age, stay the same, or get worse. All we can basically do is watch it and if it does get worse do something about it such as have surgery to replace the valve.

Yesterday was quite a LONG (we finally got to leave the clinic at 3:00) and emotional day since this is not at ALL what I expected. Please keep Ella in your prayers that her heart will heal on it's own and she can continue to be a healthy and happy little girl.

Mr. JC

Just had to post the cutest picture ever. This is JC, he is the son of Ella's former pediatrician (former because they will be moving.) He is also 4 days older than Ella. His mom Kristie and I have become great friends though our pegnancies together and our children being so close in age. We are going to be very sad to see them go! I have loved having a pediatrician in town. Kristie has had me do JC's pictures ever since he was born and I just thought this one was so sweet!

Well..........It's a girl!

Yes, we are good at having girls. I am so excited that Ella will have a sister so close. I know they will be great friends and I already have everything (pretty much.) I just had to break down yesterday and buy them their first matching outfits. Which, I promise it won't be an everyday thing (or even a weekly thing at that)!! I am a bit nervous about having 2 kids but I know it will be a lot of fun and hard work at the same time and I'm so glad Ella will have a play mate. Please pray for my sanity and for the pregnancy to continue to go well!

Miss Sadie (we don't have a middle name yet so if anyone has suggestions we're open.)
She will be here at the end of January/beginning of February!

Happy 1st Birthday!!

I can't believe it was a year ago today the Miss Ella was born. This year has gone by so fast and we have loved every minute of it. It's really amazing to see how much things change in such a short time! Ella is walking all over the place and says a lot of words like mommy, daddy, papa, kitty cat or ki ca, hi, bye bye, all done, uh oh, and recently grandad (in a broken form.) She loves to clap when she is proud of herself or when people get excited. She also loves dancing when she hears music she likes.

We had a birthday party on Friday since Jim was off and he was here to help me. We had a great time and Ella LOVED her cake. Here are some pics of the big day.

All ready for my party in my birthday dress

My first Lady Bug Birthday cake

16 Weeks

I'm 16 weeks today and time is flying by. I can't believe it! Ella will be turning 1 in a few short weeks and there is so much to get done. I went to the dr. today and got to hear the heartbeat again. It took her about 5 minutes to find it because the baby kept moving everywhere. Looks like we have another active one. We have a sonogram scheduled for Sept. 17 so we should find out what we're having. I'm kind of hoping for a boy but I also think it would be really neat for Ella to have a sister so close in age. I haven't taken any belly pictures yet but as soon as I do I will post.

And then there were....

TWO little Turnboughs. Yes, we are having another baby in January! It was quite a shock at first but we are settling into the idea quite nicely. I went for my first Dr. appt. yesterday and got to hear the little heartbeat. My doctor was also quite surprised to see me back so soon but was very excited for us. Ella and her sibling will be 16 almost 17 months apart. As one lady at church said "it's really just like raising twins honey." Yeah, thanks for that! I am 13 weeks and 3 days. I go for a sonogram next Tuesday to make sure of my weeks since I will have a scheduled c-section about a week before my due date they want to make sure they don't take the baby too early. I get a little stressed thinking that I will have two babies in 6 very short months. I really don't know how moms with 4 or 5 little one's do it. I guess they just go in full mommy mode and do it. I have come to accept that I will just "do it" taking one day/hour at a time. We are very excited and feel incredibly blessed to be having another child!

Sun Shiney Day

Just a fun picture of Ella I took the other day when the sun was shining but it wasn't 100 degrees!

Who am I?

I am eight months old today. I am learning to crawl on all fours but I've perfected what my mom calls the army crawl. I really like to play with my ball and duck. Bath time is one of my favorites. When Gran comes we like to scare each other. She tries to get me and I try to get away from her by hiding and squeeling. It really tickles and I laugh really hard when mom blows on my belly. I got my dad's technical abilities and I want to know how everything works. I like to inspect things. I'm also kind of shy when I don't know somebody and they talk to me. I hate when mom wipes my face and nose it's really annoying. I love to go to Bible class. Ms. Pat is a lot of fun. She plays games with us and sings songs. I'm also getting really big and can say mommy, daddy and all done in sign language. It's really fun to wave bye-bye to everyone I see. Oh did I tell you I have a kitty cat? She used to stay far away from me but now she lets me pet her. She's really soft. I really like to get into everything and make mom come and get me. My favorite place to hide is under the coffee table. I like to hear my own voice so I talk a lot. I am also very scheduled and it is nap time so I have to get off the computer now- mom said so.

YouTube Tuesday

This time it's actually on Tuesday!

Do you Twitter and what is it anyway?

So I signed up for Twitter a couple of months ago but didn't do anything with it because I didn't really know anyone on it. However, the other day I noticed that Rachel was on there so I decided to start playing with it.

Today I have posted a really good little video entitled "Twitter in plain English" which is the best explaination I can find for what Twitter is. Basically Twitter is a short blog or micro blog. It keeps your network updated more frequently than a blog. It's kind of like a daily running dialog. Anyway, watch the short clip and and then go sign up for Twitter, it really is fun!

YouTube Tuesday

...on Wednesday. Well, yesterday got away from me. It was quite a busy day. I wasn't home at all so today will have to do. So I have posted two, because I couldn't decide, the second I couldn't embed so I just have to post a link. The first one is a funny out-take from a news reporter and the second is Shaheen Jafargholi who is singing on Britian's got talent. He is really incredible! Enjoy!

Where has time gone?

I know it has been forever since I posted! I have really been slacking on YouTube Tuesday. I did it to get in the habit of posting more often. Yeah, that didn't last long but don't worry, tune in next week for a great one! So Ella is into EVERTHING she is now 7 months and rolling, waving, kind of crawling (she still needs some practice) and getting heavier by the day. She still loves to eat! I say still because she has never had a problem with it! A couple of weeks ago she came down with a cold and double ear infection, luckily we got through that one! Watch out mom's ear infections are the PITS! Yesterday and the day before I thought I was going to be admitted to the State Hospital by the time we got her to bed. She was so clingy and fussy so I assumed the worst- ear infection. But to my pleasant surprise it was just her teeth. Yes, she is getting 2 more teeth, her top two. Today has been SOOOOO much better. She took a good nap this morning and is now laying down for a bit. She is sleeping really well at night and this whole week I haven't had to get up once. AHHH I didn't think I would EVER see those day's again!

Taylor and Audrey are coming this weekend to H town to finish packing up some things and to sell their cars before they are off to London. It really hasn't sunk in yet that they are moving oversees. Maybe it will when I have to call another country?! CRAZY! I think they'll love it and never come back! We shall see.

Be sure to stay tuned to this fabulous ramblings by Laura for the latest edition of YouTube Tuesday. Trust me- you don't want to miss it!!

Oops.. I missed You Tube Tuesday!

Oh well I'll just post today. I really can't believe it's already Wednesday again!!

So, this week we have a video that I think is pretty impressive. Some of you may have heard of them but if not you need to check them out. The group is called the Cactus Cuties. They are from Lubbock and are the cutest little girls ever. Here's a video of them singing the national anthem at a Tech ball game. Be sure to check out their website at http://thecactuscuties.com/.

You Tube Tuesday and RSV

So what does You Tube and RSV have in common? Well nothing except that it's Tuesday and Ella has RSV!

On Thursday Ella came down with a little cough. She always has a bit of a dry cough which is to be expected because winter time + West Texas= DRY but this cough was a little raspy. So we monitored her temp and went on about our day. Well, the cough got worse and worse along with the incredibly runny nose until Sunday night she didn't sleep at all and I mean AT ALL! So bright and early at 8:00 Monday morning we called Dr. Kristie and said HELP. She saw us promptly at 9:15. They do a nose swab on all children under the age of 1 to test for RSV and Flu because infants immune systems are not regulated yet. Therefore, a lot of illnesses in children under 1 all present themselves the same. Well the test came back postive for RSV. Yikes! Luckly it is a mild case and Ella is not at high risk for example premature and low birth weight, NOPE none of those! Did I mention that she has an ear infection also? Well, Dr. Kristie fixed us up. She prescribed breathing treatments of Albuterol for the RSV and an antibiotic for the ear infection. Ella slept much better last night, mommy did too, and we are hopefully on our road to recovery.

As for You Tube Tuesday I just love the cinematography in this video, it's really genius!! Hope you appreciate it as much as I do.

They grow up so fast!

Our little girl's not so little anymore. She will be six months old a week from today. I can't believe it! Time flies when you're having fun. She changes so much from day to day. She is rolling from one side of the room to the other. Every two minutes I have to go pick her up and move her back to where she started so she can start over. It's so cute when she laughs out loud. I'll have to post a video of that. She loves food! I like to say like her daddy but kind of like her mommy also! She loves peas, carrots, apples, bananas and pears. She is grabbing at everything and it all goes straight to the mouth. Lovely!! That's probably why she got her first cold this week. She hasn't slept very well the past two nights and of course they always get sick on the weekend so we have to wait until tomorrow to call Dr. Kristie. Little girls are the best and did I mention so much fun to dress and shop for. Here are some pictures of a fun day hanging out with mom.

Baby Haley

Just wanted to say congrats to George and Rachel on the birth of their daughter Haley Clarke Price. Love y'all and can't wait to see her precious face!!
